I'm not sure I've ever seen a newborn so taken with his mom! His eyes were constantly seeking her out... and I could literally feel his body relax when he found her. It was really, really so sweet! And no wonder, isn't she lovely? Truly beautiful inside and out.

Today the rain stopped. The birds were chirping. The sun was shining. It warmed up... just enough to ditch our winter coats. So, the boys and I went out and had some fun!

Time to fess up... 9 week olds are difficult to photograph... usually. Mr. T is quite possibly the biggest exception to the rule. Sure, there were tears... there always are (sometimes regardless of age!). Sure, he made me work for it... they always do. But, oh my, was it ever worth it. Mr. T is a natural. 9 weeks old and already owning "Blue Steel."

I am completely blessed to have wonderful lifelong friends. She and I were literally separated at birth, or so the story goes. We were born 2 days apart at the same hospital back in the day when you weren't sent home moments after giving birth. We were reunited in high school and it wasn't long before we noticed certain similarities. We might be a little particular, though we'd rather think it's the perfectionist in us. We might be a little stubborn, though we'd rather think of it as determined. We both possess(ed) brilliant memories (until we had kids). We have been loyal friends for (rhymes with) many years. I would like to thank her for putting up with me for this long... and for allowing me to photograph her at 32 weeks pregnant! She's gorgeous! and I can't wait to meet baby G #2.

Apparently, my brother finds my facebook statuses highly annoying. I try to pepper life's little moments with some humour, but I guess he's just not having it : ( At least we're honest with one another. Which is why I can say this, I wish he would have smiled a little more for the camera, but beyond that I wouldn't change a thing about this picture of my youngest brother and his girlfriend. Aren't they the cutest couple ever? LOVE you both!

Fall is my absolute favourite time of year! Crisp air, gorgeous colours, falling leaves. A perfect setting for some seriously CUTE kids to make leaf angels! Mr. E - full of personality! And A - beautiful! The only thing I don't love about the fall... snow angels are right around the corner... brr!

The blog has received a major facelift... um, so has that photo of me up there - I "might" have worked some Photoshop magic ; ) Thanks to Anne Mason of Eye Am Photography for putting up with me... there is a reason I'm usually the one behind the camera!

Thanksgiving Thankfulness... || Toronto Child Photographer

Life-long friends. This thanksgiving I spent a morning with one such friend. She and I have been friends since Kindergarten. As children, we were practically joined at the hip... had sleepovers almost every weekend... attended Brownies, gymnastics (she was better!), figure skating (I was better!), and summer camp together. Oh, and we may have been a little competitive... I recall many a sabotaged "bake-off." As teenagers, lamented over the various minor - though they seemed major at the time - injustices served down by our parents. As adults, have spent hours discussing how on earth to get our children to sleep through the night! Having been an only child for 10 years, growing up she was the closest thing I had to a sister (my own arrived some 15 years later). And, like family, no matter where life takes you they are always there.

I'm also thankful for the workout her daughter gave me after a weekend of over indulgence!

If you've been reading my blog long enough, you might remember me talking about my dear friend, hip hopping C.

Well, hip hopping C had a new baby! And I got to photograph him on Day 3!

Pardon the very lame rhyme. I am so happy for C and her family. I'm also AMAZED by how quickly she bounced back after giving birth. And not at all surprised by how effortlessly she transitioned to mother of two. As if Prince H has always been there...

It's been a while since I had a 10 week old in front of my camera but I don't think I've ever met such a smiley one! Mr. A was a bit camera shy at first, loved covering his face with his hands, though it's entirely possible that he's advanced enough to have been engaging me in a little game of peek-a-boo! But, he was full of smiles for his mommy and the jingle bells!

Not that I need much inspiration when my "models" are so darn CUTE!!! Last month, I went on a bit of an Etsy shopping spree and have been waiting patiently to put my great finds to work. If you've never shopped Etsy I HIGHLY recommend it. But, consider yourself warned it's also HIGHLY addictive.

Vancouver 2010

Well, I've been back for about a week and finally found the energy to commiserate on the blog! Vancouver was such a blast, so much to see and do... and a LOT of walking. My friend C and I are now properly trained for The Amazing Race. Day 1 included no less than a plane, train, ferry, bus and cab ride. And after 24 hours, it concluded in one very wet climb up a steep hill. I'm so glad my mom convinced me to get a proper pair of welly's (even if they did take up half my suitcase).
Having never been to Vancouver before (that I can remember... I was there when I was three but have no memories of that trip), I was first struck but the abundance of natural beauty that surrounds and encroaches on the city. It is so lovely to see mountains on the horizon.
The city itself was radiating a special energy ... I definitely borrowed some of that! Everyone seemed genuinely excited just to be there. Lots of smiles, laughter, and cheers!

This morning (after two lattes) I kicked off my busy month with a maternity session with a lovely couple expecting twins. The weather wasn't all that cooperative but H&P certainly were. They even helped smuggle a pumpkin into our first location! We sought shelter from the rain at an indoor garden and later trudged through the rain soaked grass of an absolutely stunning garden... I dream of a backyard like this one. Despite the limitations emplaced by the wet weather, I’m so pleased with the results! Here’s a little peak...

A big thanks to H&P for being such wonderful models. They have such a great connection that really came across as I reviewed the images from our session. Can't wait to meet the twins for their newborn session.
